KlaviyoOpen-tracking pixel, click tracking and unsubscribe
Klaviyo can insert an open-tracking pixel, without letting you remove it campaign by campaign. In our corpus, 1406 of the 1435 emails sent through Klaviyo, by 180 brands, loaded an open-tracking pixel (98%).

What this ESP allows
Catalog shared by both pages. Each note carries its source, its date, and its confidence level.
On the right, what our emails say about it: matching, contradicted, never observed despite the volume, too few emails to conclude — or out of reach, when the capability can't be read from an email.

Open pixel Yes 1 note · 23/08/2026 Consistent seen on 1226 of 1226 emails from 166 brands, 3 months
Because open tracking is on by default, you only need to act on the recipients
Caveat On by default, at account and recipient level. Pixel position: bottom by default, can be moved to the top. The account/recipient controls are presented by the vendor as its response to the CNIL and the Garante.

Click tracking Yes 1 note · 11/09/2026 Consistent seen on 1214 of 1226 emails from 166 brands, 3 months
Links in the messages you send are rewritten to route through Klaviyo, and when a recipient clicks one, Klaviyo records a “Clicked Email” event on that recipient’s profile before sending them on to the destination.
Caveat Active by default, it can be switched off for the account, for a recipient or for a link. When switched off, the link still goes through Klaviyo: only the recording of the click stops ("links still route through Klaviyo, but Klaviyo does not record the click").

Exclusion by campaign No 1 note · 17/10/2026 Out of reach
To send a specific email without recording opens, you have two options: [...] Turn off open tracking for your whole account before sending, then turn it back on afterward. [...] Set the specific recipients you’re emailing to unsubscribed from open tracking before you send
Caveat The two options are to switch off tracking for the whole account for the duration of the send, or to set the targeted recipients to "unsubscribed"; no per-campaign setting is described. The same page states that, with tracking switched off at account or recipient level, the image stays in the email and the request reaches Klaviyo, which sets it aside: neither option removes the pixel. Page updated on 9 September according to the help centre API.

Exclusion by contact Yes 1 note · 04/08/2026 Out of reach
Open tracking off, either account-wide or for that specific recipient: the pixel is still present in the email, and when the recipient’s email app loads it, the request still reaches Klaviyo’s servers.
Caveat Re-read on 17 October, unchanged since the collection of 11 September (page updated on 9 September according to the API): switching off tracking for a recipient stops recording the open without removing the image; the request reaches Klaviyo, which sets it aside. The form page (16 October) likewise describes only a halt to recording. The box observed in the tool on 4 August says "yes": to be reviewed on screen.

Consent — absence means no pixel Partially 2 notes · 04/08/2026 Out of reach
Turning off open tracking is documented at account level and for certain recipients. What remains to be established is the behaviour when **no** consent is recorded — the documentation does not say, and that is precisely the case that decides. "Partial" until a real send has shown it.

Turning off open tracking does not remove the pixel from your messages.
Caveat With no recorded choice ("Never Subscribed"), opens are recorded; and even a recipient who has opted out of tracking receives the image, of which only the request is set aside. The message is therefore never sent without a pixel. The form page (16 October) says so again: tracking remains active as long as no explicit consent is recorded. The box observed on 4 August says "partial": to be reviewed on screen. The page displays 13 July; the help centre API dates it 2 September.

Native consent collection Partially 2 notes · 17/10/2026 Out of reach
Klaviyo does not yet offer native consent collection for transitional emails
Caveat "does not yet" — the exact source of "announced" on the map: no native collection, a third-party form recommended, with Klaviyo's consent management able to store responses collected elsewhere. To be dated and followed up before each republication.

If needed, use a Tracking consent block to ask visitors for email marketing and email tracking consent when they sign up.
Caveat A "Tracking consent" block in sign-up forms collects consent to opens and clicks, as separate checkboxes or as one checkbox combined with marketing. The page says Klaviyo then stops recording opens or clicks for a recipient who has opted out of tracking: the effect is on recording, and the image stays in the email ("How to manage open tracking"). Nothing native for withdrawal: the page leaves the withdrawal wording to the brand, and "Email tracking pixel regulations…" (9 September) states that no footer link or preference page yet collects an objection. The page does not say what an unticked checkbox records, whereas tracking remains active as long as no choice is recorded: to be observed on screen. The post of 13 July ("does not yet") remains online, unchanged since 28 July.

Consent history Yes 1 note · 11/09/2026 Out of reach
You can build a segment filtered on Open Tracking Consent status to see everyone who has objected or opted in at any time, and use the Events API to pull a timestamped history of when each recipient’s consent changed.
Caveat Concerns consent to open tracking, and consent to click tracking through the same mechanism ("How to manage click tracking"). The history is read through the events API; the page does not mention an export from the interface.

Granularity of settings Yes 1 note · 11/09/2026 Out of reach
Klaviyo can stop recording email click events at three levels: across your whole account, for individual recipients, or for a single link. … Your account setting overrides individual consent.
Caveat Opens are set at account and recipient level ("How to manage open tracking"), clicks also at link level; no per-campaign or per-list setting is mentioned. Switching off tracking does not remove the mechanism: the image and the links remain, and only recording stops.

Limits of this analysis
It doesn't say what a brand has actually configured. A sending platform that allows turning off the pixel says nothing about which brands have done so — that's what a brand's report answers.
It doesn't rank. No score, no recommendation: capabilities don't carry the same weight depending on the use, and that weight isn't ours to set.
A “not checked” cell is not a “no”. It says nobody has gone to look yet, and nothing else.
The corpus does not establish a capability. A rate of observed pixels says what brands send, not what the tool can do.
